About Me

My name is Simon Arthur-Smith. I am an experienced counsellor, now in my sixteenth year of private practice, offering therapy both from counselling rooms in Hove (160-162 Church Road) and remotely (via Skype and telephone). I am committed to providing effective (and cost-effective) counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and totally non-judgemental environment.

I am a Registered and Accredited member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.

Appointments

I counsel individuals one-to-one, either for an agreed time period, or on an open-ended basis - my aim as a counsellor is to enable you to improve your quality of life and live life more fully.

I am experienced in counselling clients who are having difficulties with:

  • Relationship matters

  • Low self-esteem

  • Depression

  • Bereavement

  • Sexuality issues

  • Disability

  • Life-threatening illness

  • Self-assertiveness

  • Stress

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma

My Hove practice location is not just convenient for people residing in Brighton & Hove, but also residents of Portslade, Southwick, Shoreham-by-Sea, Lancing and Steyning. I also provide virtual appointments via Skype and phone for your convenience.

Sessional rates

An initial consultation costs just £25. It typically takes 60-75 minutes.

 

My sessional rates for on-going counselling are as follows:

  • ​For 'remote' appointments (appointments via Skype or telephone): £55 for 60-minute appointments (except for Saturday appointments, which are £60)

  • For 'in-person' appointments in Hove: £65 for 60-minute appointments and £90 for 90-minute appointments (n.b. most EMDR appointments will be 90-minutes in length).

Please note, if you are planning on calling me on my mobile, there is a significant chance that I will be in a counselling session, and therefore unavailable to take a call, at any given time between 9am and 9pm on weekdays. In the event that you get a voicemail message when calling on the 'phone, please leave me a message, remembering to also leave your contact details and advising of times when it is appropriate for me to return your call. I will get back to you just as soon as feasibly can.
